Armor & Weapons of Warfare!
“In conclusion, be strong in the Lord [be empowered through your union with Him]; draw your strength from Him [that strength which His boundless might provides]”. Ephesians 6:10 AMPC
Draw strength which HIS boundless might provides by being empowered through union with Him which will make you strong IN the Lord.
First off, what is this “boundless might”?
There is at least one other specific mention of this “boundless might” in NT In Ephesians 1:19-20
Talks about the same word which broken down means dominion and vigor of power! SAME one that raised JESUS CHRIST from the dead…could this be a reference to an aspect of His resurrection power?
Bringing what was dead back to life… look at Isaiah 11:2
Let’s detour and examine verse 2 in Isaiah… what has always been called the seven fold spirit of God is that but, let’s see how the WORD actually describes HOLY SPIRIT.
I have looked in the Orthodox Jewish bible and Complete Jewish bible and AMPC and they ALL combine the verse where each of the 3 descriptions of Holy Spirit is distinguished.
Here is the verse in Isaiah 11:2 FROM Jewish Complete Bible and the AMPC
“The Spirit of Adonai will rest on him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and power, the Spirit of knowledge and fearing Adonai —”
“2 And the Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him—the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and of the reverential and obedient fear of the Lord—”
Holy Spirit THE Spirit of the LORD did rest upon Jesus in John there is a clear account of this happening which John the Baptist testified.
“29 The next day John saw Jesus coming to him and said, Look! There is the Lamb of God, Who takes away the sin of the world! 30 This is He of Whom I said, After me comes a Man Who has priority over me [Who takes rank above me] because He was before me and existed before I did. 31 And I did not know Him and did not recognize Him [myself]; but it is in order that He should be made manifest and be revealed to Israel [be brought out where we can see Him] that I came baptizing in (with) water. 32 John gave further evidence, saying, I have seen the Spirit descending as a dove out of heaven, and it dwelt on Him [never to depart]. 33 And I did not know Him nor recognize Him, but He Who sent me to baptize in (with) water said to me, Upon Him Whom you shall see the Spirit descend and remain, that One is He Who baptizes with the Holy Spirit. 34 And I have seen [that happen—I actually did see it] and my testimony is that this is the Son of God!“
Holy Spirit IS the Spirit of the Lord…in Him are layers…named in Isaiah 11:2
1.) Spirit of …
2.) Spirit of …
3.) Spirit of …
(b.) Fear of the Lord
So the “boundless might” indicates unending power with ability. Going back to Ephesians 6:10 then we can say that when we are in union, abiding IN His presence we have this “boundless might” …or better transliterated here…we have unending power with ability!
Moving to verse 11 of Ephesians 6
“11 Put on God’s whole armor [the armor of a heavy-armed soldier which God supplies], that you may be able successfully to stand up against [all] the strategies and the deceits of the devil.”
What is the purpose FOR the armor of GOD?
TO STAND! Stand against what?
Coming from whom? The devil! Bear that in mind as we move on.
“12 For we are not wrestling with flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the despotisms, against the powers, against [the master spirits who are] the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spirit forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) sphere.”
Again WHO are we fighting against….oh wait, it doesn’t say fight does it?
NO! It says we “wrestle” against people? NO…NOT flesh and blood. Then who is it …
- Despotisms=absolute authority power or control especially in a cruel oppressive way, tyranny, principalities.
- Powers= superhuman forces delegated authority
- Master spirits who are world rulers of the present darkness=hurtful evil malice.
- Spiritual forces of wickedness in the supernatural sphere= evil in the supernatural realms.
So who does the fighting?
Turn to II Corinthians 10:3-6 for that answer…
“3 For though we walk (live) in the flesh, we are not carrying on our warfare according to the flesh and using mere human weapons. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not physical [weapons of flesh and blood], but they are mighty before God for the overthrow and destruction of strongholds, 5 [Inasmuch as we] refute arguments and theories and reasonings and every proud and lofty thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God; and we lead every thought and purpose away captive into the obedience of Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One), 6 Being in readiness to punish every [insubordinate for his] disobedience, when your own submission and obedience are fully secured and complete.”
The Hosts of Heaven are weapons of warfare for us…we take authority as we have been given by Jesus according to Luke 10:19 and cancel the strategies, schemes, deceits, plots and plans of the enemy then we command the Army…the WEAPONS of our warfare to go and do what? Tear down the strongholds! Our thoughts must be lined up with the will of Heavenly Father first!
THEN, before sending the Hosts, we do this…
“13 Therefore put on God’s complete armor, that you may be able to resist and stand your ground on the evil day [of danger], and, having done all [the crisis demands], to stand [firmly in your place]. 14 Stand therefore [hold your ground], having tightened the belt of truth around your loins and having put on the breastplate of integrity and of moral rectitude and right standing with God, 15 And having shod your feet in preparation [to face the enemy with the firm-footed stability, the promptness, and the readiness produced by the good news] of the Gospel of peace. 16 Lift up over all the [covering] shield of saving faith, upon which you can quench all the flaming missiles of the wicked [one]. 17 And take the helmet of salvation and the sword that the Spirit wields, which is the Word of God. 18 Pray at all times (on every occasion, in every season) in the Spirit, with all [manner of] prayer and entreaty. To that end keep alert and watch with strong purpose and perseverance, interceding in behalf of all the saints (God’s consecrated people).”
We will look more at the armor to wear in the next message because it has a whole lot to do with …RELATIONSHIP with Heavenly Father!
It is important that we understand HOW this all works and not just read through and breeze through it because the scripture is familiar to us.
I urge you to take time and read carefully because next message will unpack all of it and we will tie it all together!
NOW is the time to know who we are and be who we are created to be as manifested sons and daughters of the MOST HIGH GOD!
Blessings to each of you!
